De Straat op - For solidarity
CALL TO THE LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY – TAKE ACTION!
Our rights are under pressure. In the run-up to the elections, we need to send a strong message: know what you are voting for!
On September 20, we will once again take to the streets!
2 p.m., Dam Square in Amsterdam
Join the protest against fear and exclusion — and for love, equality, and human rights for all.
If you follow the news, you know that our hard-won rights are rapidly eroding abroad. But things are also going wrong in the Netherlands.
Some examples: the Minister of Education who has linked rainbow paths to swastikas, several parties (including the largest) claiming that there are only two genders, the pressure from the US to discontinue the diversity policies of Dutch companies, the distressing situations for queer refugees who face misunderstanding from the IND and violence in AZCs the lack of Dutch legislation banning medical interventions on intersex children (despite calls from organisations such as the UN and the European Parliament), various right-wing and conservative parties demanding a ban on care for transgender youth, political silence on new legislation allowing non-binary gender registration (despite court rulings to the contrary) and so on.
Meanwhile, BIPOC and bicultural LGBTQIA+ persons are feeling the pressure, even here - through institutional racism, exclusion and political indifference.
The oxygen is running out and we want to send a clear message on the streets.
✊🏾Wij are not powerless.
✊🏻 We are visible
✊🏿 We are connected
✊🏼 And we are DETERMINED
Make your voice heard and not just in the voting booth.
Stand side by side - black, white, brown, trans, non-binary, queer, straight, cis, young and old. We all say NO to exclusion. YES to an inclusive future.
Make September 20 a historic day.
Share this message, bring your friends and make your voices heard peacefully but loud and clear.
