Rainbow firestarter sessions
For a long time, America was seen as a frontrunner in the fight for emancipation. Now, it looms as a dystopian warning, a place where minorities can no longer count on their safety or human rights. The developments in the U.S. are deeply worrying for LGBTQIA+ people around the world. These concerns are valid: dark clouds are gathering over the Netherlands, too. In fact, it’s already raining.
But this isn’t the first time in history, and our past offers hope. We are not going to sit back and
anxiously await disaster—we want to take precautions so we can weather the storm together.
The Rainbow Firestarter Sessions are a series of low-key gatherings aimed at strengthening community and enhancing self-defense in every possible sense. The goal is to assemble and to share hands-on tools for resistance and resilience in the face of rising fascism.
We’ll begin by taking stock. What’s troubling our community most at this moment? Based on that input, we’ll organize three future sessions around specific themes.
These gatherings are organized by Linda Duits, René Huysmans, Anne Rodermond, and Barnaby Savage.
