    ho are you when no one’s watching? Who are you when everyone is? Some things you carry your whole life. Others you discover in a room full of people who get it.

    QueerHub is teaming up with @kara_karagoza to bring you a drag workshop series that’s less about the glam (okay, also about the glam) and more about what happens when you let yourself be seen.

    More about Karagöza:
    Cypriot multi-media maker based in Amsterdam. Their work surrounds the themes of gender, roots and sociopolitical satire. Many times they appear as their drag persona Karagözα – a gender bender jester drag king persona that originates from the traditional shadow play character Karagöz (Turkish) / Karagkiozis (Greek).

    Across three 3-hour sessions, you’ll warm up your body, your voice, and your nerve — with theater-based exercises designed to shake off the stiff and wake up the you underneath.

    No experience needed. Just curiosity, and maybe a little willingness to surprise yourself.

    Op vrijdag 23 mei 2026 staat de wereldberoemde drag-artiest Sasha Velour in het RAI Theater in Amsterdam met haar gloednieuwe theatershow Travesty. De voorstelling maakt deel uit van de Europese tour van Velour en belooft een radicale, visueel overdonderende avond waarin drag, performancekunst en queer geschiedenis samenkomen.

    Travesty is een 80 minuten durende one-queen show zonder pauze, geschreven en geregisseerd door Sasha Velour zelf. In de voorstelling neemt zij het publiek mee door de verborgen queer geschiedenis van één plek door de tijd heen: van een heks die op de brandstapel belandt, tot een clown die een theater bouwt en een underground gay bar die in opstand komt tegen politiegeweld. Met indrukwekkende lipsync-performances, gelaagde kostuums en krachtige beelden verkent Velour thema’s als bestaan, verzet en de transformerende kracht van drag.

    De show is zowel performancekunst als een oproep tot actie. Travesty viert drag als een universele kunstvorm en benadrukt dat spelen met gender, identiteit en verhalen zo oud is als de mensheid zelf. Zoals Velour het omschrijft: "Dit is de meest pure én meest radicale vorm van drag die ik ooit op het podium heb gebracht. Geen excuses, geen uitleg, alleen kunst.”

    Sasha Velour verwierf wereldwijd faam als winnaar van RuPaul’s Drag Race en wordt geroemd om haar emotionele live-optredens en iconische visuele stijl. Eerder toerde zij internationaal met de succesvolle shows Smoke & Mirrors en The Big Reveal, en trad zij op in toonaangevende theaters zoals The London Palladium en Folies Bergère.
