Come watch a queer movie in your second living room!

On Wednesday June 17, we’ll be showing the Italian movie Stranizza d’amuri (Fireworks) with English subtitles.
The movie takes place in Sicily in 1982, where two Italian teens’ budding love affair is threatened when their bond is discovered by their families, resulting in a series of events that jump-started the Italian Gay Rights movement.

After the movie we’ll have a short chat about the films with some drinks!

when: June 17 from 19:00 – Movie starts at 19:30

The Unwanted Words Project is thrilled to celebrate spoken word poetry, storytelling, op-eds, drama and music, with our popular open mic series, Queer Poetry Night, at Pakhuis De Zwijger – Amsterdam’s independent cultural center. Organic, joyous and spontaneous, this event, produced and hosted by Tuaca Kelly, draws professional, amateur and first-time performers from far and wide. Get ready for an unforgettable evening filled with powerful words, heartfelt expressions and a vibrant celebration of real human voices!

Queer Poetry Nights are free, community-centered open mic events for LGBTQIA+ poets, spoken word artists, storytellers, and performers. Expect poetry, spoken word, and the occasional surprise in a safer space where authenticity and respect come first.

    📝 Want to perform?
Open mic sign-ups open shortly before each event. Registration links will be shared via our website and social media. Spots are limited, so sign up early.

It doesn’t have to be perfect — it’s all about TransJoy. Additionally, Sam will be there with free Henna Painting. Let your hands be beautifully decorated by their creative touch.

*During café InClusion, photos are taken, and films are made regularly. Anyone who does not wish to be filmed or photographed can request a sticker from our team members. This way, our filmmaker and photographer take your wishes into account.
