    I invite you to a playful, dance and movement workshop We are queer gym where we’ll get into our bodies and you’ll move freely in connection to the theme: comfort zone. Through coaching, I help you reflect on what you experienced and connect it to your daily life. It’s fun, deep, sometimes vulnerable, always meaningfulπŸ™πŸ½

    *This is your chance to explore dance as a tool for self-discovery and connection. You don’t have to be a dancer! Every body has its movement capability. I’ll help you discover in which ways your body can move πŸ’«

    On Saturday, May 24 at 4:00 PM, the Queer Library opens at the We Are Queer gym: a small library with big ambitions. The library, an initiative of the Queertopia Foundation, houses books from and about the LGBTQIA+ community: a variety of fiction, non-fiction, comic books, poetry collections, and photo books. The library is a volunteer initiative and is free to use, based on the motto β€˜for and by the community’. Various queer icons will be guests at the grand opening, including darts player Noa-Lynn van Leuven, boxer and WINQ Award winner Jay Muller, and Bibi Scholten van Aschat, owner of Boekhandel de Duif. After their speeches, there will be time for a conversation with the audience.

    β€œIt is important to recognize yourself in stories,” says Queer Library coordinator Marisa: β€œThere is an enormous treasure trove of queer literature, from classics by James Baldwin to new bestsellers like Samantha Shannon. With the queer library, we make these freely accessible to LGBTQIA+ people.” Reading is also done collectively: the Queer Library organizes book clubs to discuss books together. The members of the We Are Queer gym have had a sneak peek and can already use the library. Many books have been donated by enthusiasts as well as publishers. Marisa has big ambitions for the Queer Library: β€œWe are already bursting at the seams in this gym. We hope to have branches in various queer locations so that we can circulate books and reach even more queer readers with stories from their communities.”

    How do we carry our bodies in today’s world? And which social structures shape how we feel, move, and express ourselves?In this playful and reflective workshop, participants explore their relationship to the body through conversation, sculptural extensions, and movement. By crafting and wearing new bodily forms, we open space to rethink identity, presence, and interaction.We conclude by sharing insights and experiencesβ€”discovering together how our bodies can transform, resist, and imagine new possibilities.The workshop will be hosted by Lucian Kuijpers and An Kuper. Two queer, non-binary, transmasculine artists. This workshop is related to their new theatre play β€˜Pleasure Parts (for de(con)struction).The workshop is accessible for everyone, and is written from a queer perspective. No prior experience needed. The workshop will be in English, unless all participants speak Dutch.
