𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙮 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙗𝙖𝙧𝙞 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘢𝘣𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴

Shibari is centred around the dynamic between partners and creating a scene of play where ropes are leading the player. The practice is rooted in eroticism but evolved outside Japan apart from sexual also to artistic practices and community building. Whether you’re tying or getting tied, our classes provide a safe entry point into this beautiful practice.

𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘿𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨:
*Duration: 3 hours (2 hours of class + 1-hour rope-jam for free tying and socialising)
*Language: English (Dutch translation available)
*Discounts: 20% off for community members! DM for the discount code.

*Self-tying or partnering up in two and more is possible, will be initiated during the class

From an educational point of view she likes to focus both on the technical part for safety reasons and the playful part for fun.

“Level 2 classes are for those who already know how to coil rope, tie a single column tie and double column tie each with double wraps and a square knot. You have taken in-person lessons both as the one tying and the one getting tied. Preferably you already have your own ropes.”

Eleggua Luna Laverde (@_mojana) is a multidisciplinary afrocaribbean artist from Bazurto, Cartagena, on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Now based in Cali, she is the founder of Mojana Estudios (@mojana_presenta), an audiovisual studio centering black and afroindigenous trans and queer voices.

Her practice explores the ways black trans (travesti) and queer (marica) communities navigate ancestry, weaving together past, present, and future to both nourish her community and honor the travestis and maricas who paved the way.

She has curated Macumbas, a project that intertwines ballroom culture with yoruba spirituality and locally rooted black antipatriarcal anticolonial trans and queer practices in Cali. As a filmmaker, through music, documentary and the short film Danzan Las Luciérnagas, she has ventured into the realms of Afrofuturism (although she has a lot to say about that term).

This evening, Eleggua Luna Laverde will share her work and engage in conversation with the audience.
