    Queer History month

By IHLIA @ Multiple locations, Amsterdam

March 2026 is the sixth edition of Queer History Month, organized by IHLIA LBTI+ LGBTI Heritage. You can visit various events all throughout the Netherlands to celebrate this month. But why devote an entire month to queer history? During this month, we contribute to raising social awareness that gender, sex, and sexual diversity are timeless. It is also a way to promote representation. Queer History Month is about memory, queer history, and the importance of dialogue. The current political climate makes it increasingly difficult to continue the conversation with each other. Highlighting these histories calls on us to remember: make the lives of the queer community visible for the future, so that they cannot be so easily erased.

    Queer Board Gayming XL

ReRoll Works, Van Woustraat 202A, Amsterdam

Every other Sunday (mostly), we're going BIG! From 13:00 to 22:00, it's all day gayming at our HQ.

With a bigger group, more tables and lots more time, these events have a something for everyone.
A common strategy is medium weight games, sprinkled with more casual games and breaks.
If you're in it for the long haul, there's usually a table with a crunchy 3 hour session of something like Nemesis or Unfathomable.
Many stay and grab food from a nearby restaurant to keep playing into the evening.

    Perfect for:
Complex strategy games that need breathing room
Trying out or revisiting your favourites
Socialising both in and out of games
    Learning new things without rushing
    Meeting fellow gamers

    What to expect:
A relaxed, marathon gaming atmosphere where you can start something ambitious at lunch and still have time to see it through properly, comfortably sitting alongside the multiple sprints of smaller games for those with a more bite-sized appetite for rules and play.

    When:
    Every other Sunday, 13:00-22:00

    Bring:
Your patience, snacks, and that game you've been dying to play properly

Come hungry for strategy, stay for the satisfaction of a game well-played! 🏆

    The House Rules:
✅ Bring your own games or explore our collection (including our own boundary-pushing titles)
✅ Outside food welcome – bring snacks for those intense gaming sessions
❌ No external drinks – we've got refreshments sorted
❌ No alcohol – keeping our space accessible and comfortable for everyone

    Sex salon

    Club Church, kerkstraat 52, Amsterdam

We are all porn stars now. Smart phones have turned us all into potential performers, we can film ourselves during sexy time to spread the joy or relive it later. We are all porn producers now as well, with extensive knowledge of favourable camera angles and lighting.

Still, video sharing gets a bad rep in the media, which tend to focus only on non-consensual image sharing. In the 24th Sex Salon, we cheer the delights of sexy self-expression, playful exhibitionism, and making money of your hot looks.

    Poly stories

Treehouse NDSM, T.T. Neveritaweg 55-57, Amsterdam

Poly Stories | Yes... but body says no

Sometimes, the head goes faster than the body, or the other way around. It doesn’t mean that ENM is not for us, or that fantasies or needs cannot be fulfilled.

When do we hold back, and when do we stretch ourselves? How do we strike a balance, deepening our ENM practice and relationships at a pace that works for us? What do you really want, right now?

Yes, no, maybe and the magical: not yet. In exploring something new, we don’t need to have everything all at once. What we want in theory and in practice, are not always the same, or may need to be reached step by step. Other times, we may catch ourselves by surprise, feeling comfortable taking something one step further. Doing less, or more, than originally intended or agreed upon, is fine, as long as everyone is into it.

  18. Shibari classes

    Lola Lieven, Rodenrijsstraat 43, Amsterdam

    Shibari classes

    Lola Lieven, Rodenrijsstraat 43, Amsterdam

These classes are designed for absolute beginners, beginners and people who already know how to coil rope, tie a single column tie and double column tie each with double wraps and a square knot.

Information about the class: Shibari is the term generally used to define Japanese rope bondage. Although it has many similarities to Western bondage (the B of BDSM), Shibari is centred around the dynamic between partners and creates a scene of play where ropes are leading the player. The practice is rooted in eroticism but evolved outside Japan apart from sexual also to artistic practices and community building. The classes are designed for all levels but especially for beginners to give a point of entry and start the journey with ropes. They will give everyone the tools to get started in their practice safely, no matter which role they prefer to take on, tying or getting tied; switching is permitted and encouraged. The event lasts 3 hours of which 2 hours are dedicated to class and 1 hour to free tying, a ‘rope-jam’ where one can practise, tie for fun and socialise and mix with other participants. The topic of each class is different every month and will be announced in advance.

    Bio of the teacher

Eileen aka Asiana is a kinky switch with a passion for Japanese rope bondage (shibari). She’s the founder of RopeLounge and has been teaching shibari for over 10 years in Amsterdam. The aesthetics and Japanese approach to tying have a great appeal to her. Generally she likes the more challenging way of tying and enjoys seeing her partners suffer in her ropes. From an educational point of view she likes to focus both on the technical part for safety reasons and the playful part for fun.

Hoe blijven we samen sterk?

With contributions by nine different writers, it explores the many different ways of relating to leatherdykedom. It was kindly made possible with funding from the Trutfonds.

For this launch at Athenaeum, DykeHouse Press is collaborating with the Berlin-based zine Woman Wood, a queer smut gazette published by CUTT Press and co-edited by Erin Warner Honeycutt and a.Monti. Pottenkijkers: Dykes, Camera, Action!

    De uitkijk, Prinsengracht 452, Amsterdam

Pottenkijkers dives into the archive with our next edition on the 25th of march. For the occasion of queer history month we paired up for a second time with IHLIA LGBTI Heritage. This time, we will screen a short compilation film, 90´s Potten (2026), made specifically for this screening, which gives a snippet of queer and lesbian life in Amsterdam in the 90’s. It shows a collage of archival footage shot and/or conserved by Het Lesbisch Archief Amsterdam (the Amsterdam lesbian archive). Het Lesbisch Archief Amsterdam was set up in 1982 to preserve lesbian life in Amsterdam and make it visible and accessible. Later the archive would go up into what IHLIA is today.

Together with this short we will screen the documentary Dykes, Camera, Action! (2018) by Caroline Berger. This documentary shows the history of lesbian filmmaking. Lesbians didn’t always get to see themselves on screen. But between Stonewall, the feminist movement, and the experimental cinema of the 1970s, they built visibility, and transformed the social imagination about queerness. Filmmakers Barbara Hammer, Su Friedrich, Rose Troche, Cheryl Dunye, Yoruba Richen, Desiree Akhavan, Vicky Du, film critic B. Ruby Rich, Jenni Olson, and others share moving and often hilarious stories from their lives and discuss how they’ve expressed queer identity through film.

    Torch song

Het Amsterdams Theaterhuis, Marius van Bouwdijk Bastiaansestraat 54, Amsterdam

Torch Song (originally Torch Song Trilogy) is an iconic and highly acclaimed play by Harvey Fierstein. It tells the story of Arnold Beckoff, a Jewish gay man, drag queen, and torch singer, as he navigates love, loss, and parenthood in 1970s and 1980s New York City across three hilarious and deeply heartfelt acts.

Premiering on Broadway in 1982, Torch Song established itself as a trailblazer for queer theater by unapologetically depicting gay sexuality and families on a Broadway stage in an era of backlash against the social progress of the queer community. The play won two Tony Awards, including Best Play, and established Fierstein as one of the most important voices in modern theatre. It remains a milestone of LGBTQ+ representation and a timeless story about love, family, and the search for acceptance.

Despite being over 40 years old, Torch Song is still extremely relevant today as we see the rights of the LBGTQ+ community come under attack, which is why we wish to revive this rebellious piece. Read more about the director’s vision below!

Recommended for mature audiences. Contains strong language, adult themes, and brief simulated sexual situations.

STOMP is coming to OCCII and we are quakin' in our boots to share the chaotic joy of queer line dancing with you 💃🪩

Our nights are for everyone: first-timers, seasoned line dancers, and anyone in between. We kick off with a few guided lessons so nobody gets left behind, then the music takes over and the floor is ours alllll night long 🎉

Never done it before? Here's the deal:

Line dancing is a style of dance where everyone on the floor performs the same choreographed sequence of steps — forming lines, all facing the same direction, all moving together. Super beginner-friendly, and yes, you will pick it up faster than you think 🥾✨

Curious about the music? The STOMP playlist goes way beyond country — yes you'll see country dances on the floor, but we're known to swap in pop and R&B classics, queer favorites, and anything that'll make you wanna sing along while you dance 🎶

    What is STOMP?

STOMP is a queer-founded and centered line dancing collective based in Amsterdam, following the legacy of queer dance spaces and LGBTQ cowboy culture in America — with deep ties to the Black and BIPOC communities who helped shape country and dance culture as we know it today. Inspired by collectives like Stud Country (Los Angeles) and Buck Wild (New York), we teach classic country dances mixed with current favorites, all in an atmosphere that's welcoming, joyful, and friendly to every dance level.

  3. Queering Puppets Festival

    Plein Theater, Sajetplein 39, Amsterdam

    Queering Puppets Festival

    Plein Theater, Sajetplein 39, Amsterdam

The international Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam will once again provide a stage for visual theatre, puppetry, and performance at Plein Theater from 1 to 6 April. The theme of this 5th anniversary edition, ‘The Nature of Things’ offers a radical response to Eurocentric and colonial perspectives on sexuality, gender, and racial framing, while questioning the assumption that humans stand at the centre of nature.

Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam is queer, feminist, activist and above all stands out in quirkiness. It is the only festival in the Netherlands that links puppetry and object theatre for adults to queer imagination. In the safe space created by puppetry, everyone can be who they, she or he want to be. Expect a challenging mix of bodies, stories that refuse to conform to existing dominant structures, visual and erotic outbursts, edgy performances, stimulating lectures, queer food, and clubby afters.

The festival aims to break with binary thinking. Man versus woman, human versus animal, nature versus capitalism, and normal versus deviant. These boundaries are implicitly violent, oppressive, and never neutral—they are instruments of power, linked to exclusion, discipline, and destruction.

But the nature of things cannot be pinned down. It is fluid, changeable, rebellious. It reveals itself in bodies that do not fit into a single category, in biodiversity that refuses to be silenced, in voices that have been suppressed for centuries.

Visual theatre makers and performers from across the world will come together during the festival to present bold, imaginative and pleasantly unsettling shows and performances in which puppetry and object theatre break through the boundaries of identity.

Come to the Plein Theater and embrace the magic, not as an escape, but as resistance, as a collective source of strength.

By QPFA @ Plein Theater, Sajetplein 39, Amsterdam

My body is a temple, until it isn’t

By QPFA @ Plein Theater, Sajetplein 39, Amsterdam

n auto-fictional theatre performance by two (trans) non-binary lovers during their personal search for physicality, identity, and gender. Against the backdrop of an increasingly radicalizing world, they explore a more unguarded, unapologetic attitude by claiming their bodies as a construction site rather than a temple.

At the center of the stage stand two folded, twisted aluminum cubes, partially covered by semi-transparent latex curtains. The set evokes both a nightmare-like operating room and an industrial cocoon or a life-size three-dimensional puzzle. In any case, this space embodies the inner world of An and Lucian—this is their space. Here, they do not have to apologize and can shamelessly explore their trans identity.

Both have a curious and complex relationship with their bodies, as a result of dysphoria, endless attempts to accept their biologically assigned sex, socially imposed transphobia, or simply because bodies can be alienating. In any case, they attempt to gain control over this physicality by adapting it to their own vision. They experiment with orthoses—sculptural bodily extensions that allow them to redefine everything. This act of redefining takes place out loud, with the audience as accomplice. New extensions are tested, old beliefs are dismantled. Again and again, the knife goes in—literally and figuratively.

Their bodies are approached as a construction site: fluid, unfinished and in constant transition. This claim shifts the perspective away from sexualization, misgendering, and dysphoria, toward play, pleasure, euphoria, and self-determination.

    Queere Tiere

By QPFA @ Plein Theater, Sajetplein 39, Amsterdam

With Queere Tiere (Queer Animals), Daniel Hellmann, Coco Schwarz and their artistic alteregos Soya the Cow & Piano Prince invite us to dive into a fascinating world where hermaphroditic snails, homosexual hyenas and transgender chimpanzees coexist. Between stories and songs, between post-dramatic opera and drag show, they create a multi-faceted stage space around the diversity of sexuality, love and lifestyles in the animal kingdom. Starting from their personal point of view as queer human animals, they tell stories about real queer animals and animals from myths and fairy tales.

Queere Tiere presents an image of nature freed from the constraints of heteronormative interpretation and transmission, making visible and celebrating life in all its richness and variety.

    Raíz de la Ceniza

By QPFA @ Plein Theater, Sajetplein 39, Amsterdam

The play Raíz de la Ceniza (Root from Ash) arises from the need to recover and make visible the memory of the Lenca people, one of the oldest Indigenous peoples of Honduras, whose history has been marked both by resistance and by the violence of colonization and the subsequent processes of cultural erasure.

In various oral accounts collected in Lenca communities, the memory is kept of women who were murdered for defending life, the land, and the continuity of their culture. The figure of the woman becomes a double symbol: on the one hand, victim of historical oppression and cultural extinction; on the other, guardian of ancestral knowledge and of the spiritual strength that sustains the people.

To represent the Lenca woman on stage is both an act of homage and an act of denunciation. Her story embodies the fracture caused by conquest and by a modernity that devastates, but also the hope that through art, the voices of those who were silenced can be reclaimed.

At the same time, Raíz de la Ceniza seeks to address our present: in a world threatened by the climate crisis, Indigenous peoples teach us that caring for water, the forest, and the land is not only an ecological duty, but also a spiritual and communal act.

To remember the women who were killed defending nature, to remember the cultural extinction that was imposed, is also to remember that we still have time to reconnect with what is essential.

The play thus becomes a scenic ritual that weaves together memory and action, pain and hope, and the ancestral root with the future.

Swap your cash for Striptopia Dollars, tip the performers who catch your eye and, if you dare, treat yourself to a lap dance. It’s a playful nod to the classic American strip club fantasy — reimagined with a wink, sharp humour and genuine care.

    Sasha Velour

    RAI Theater, Europaplein 24, Amsterdam

On Friday, May 23, 2026, world-famous drag artist Sasha Velour will perform her brand-new stage show, Travesty, at the RAI Theater in Amsterdam. The performance is part of Velour's European tour and promises a radical, visually stunning evening that brings together drag, performance art, and queer history.

Travesty is an 80-minute, one-queen show without intermission, written and directed by Sasha Velour herself. In the performance, she takes the audience through the hidden queer history of a single location through time: from a witch burned at the stake to a clown building a theater and an underground gay bar rebelling against police brutality. With impressive lip-sync performances, layered costumes, and powerful imagery, Velour explores themes of existence, resistance, and the transformative power of drag.

The show is both performance art and a call to action. Travesty celebrates drag as a universal art form and emphasizes that playing with gender, identity, and stories is as old as humanity itself. As Velour describes it: "This is the purest and most radical form of drag I've ever brought to the stage. No excuses, no explanations, just art."

Sasha Velour achieved global fame as the winner of RuPaul's Drag Race and is praised for her emotional live performances and iconic visual style. She previously toured internationally with the successful shows Smoke & Mirrors and The Big Reveal, and performed at leading venues such as the London Palladium and Folies Bergère.

Chemsex is in our community and will probably stick around for a while longer.

Church wants to keep the conversation about chemsex going in an informal, informative and non-judgemental way.

In 2018 we took stock of the state of chemsex in Amsterdam, last year we focused on providing information on mixing different kinds of drugs.
This year we zoom in on one specific aspect: how to enjoy sex without the high, if sex on chems has become your default mode.

Whether it's limiting the frequency of your sessions, recalibrating, or abandoning drugs altogether.
We’ll hear about how to get professional help, but also discuss do-it-yourself tips & tricks.

Let’s break down the barriers and stigmas surrounding chemsex, and keep it sexy.

BIXARIA is an Amsterdam based Queer Brazilian Club Night focused on creating space for shaking all the r4bas! In Brazilian language, “shaking the raba” means dancing with your butt up and down as much as you want, in whatever way you would like to and as far as your imagination can take you!. It’s about fun, joy, sensuality and collective creativity, the way we like it in the streets of Brazil.

BIXARIA holds space for people who want to explore their bodies in whatever moment they are. It comes from movements centered on immigr4nts, BIPOC queers, experimental and dissent people. We don’t assume anyone’s gender or orientation and we’re not focused on how anyone “looks like”. So don’t be afraid, you are queer enough and everybody is welcome! We love you as you are and the goal is to have fun! We have a door policy and a Gender Awareness team to help keep the night smooth.

Expect contemporary Brazilian Funk, Brega Funk, Techno Brega, Brazilian House, Dembow and experiments with all of that. DJs, performances, MCs and most importantly, you. Each edition has a theme, so feel free to dress up and help embody it with us. Come alone if you want and arrive early! You can make friends here, let us know you are on your own if you want.

    LoveBall

By MEIJT. @ The other side, Rigakade 10, Amsterdam

Relive the past. Celebrate love. Dance into the future. ✨💖

Loveball lands on sacred ground. The Other Side — a venue where nightlife lives, where freedom is felt, and where the energy of the dancefloor takes center stage. A space that invites you to let go, connect, and fully surrender to the music. 🌙🔥🎶

Loveball is the official opening event of Pride Amsterdam 2026. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:00 PM until 5:00 AM, Pride Amsterdam opens with a night where the city comes together to celebrate freedom, inclusivity, and love. The Other Side Amsterdam sets the stage for this unforgettable kickoff. 🌈🤍

Loveball is rooted in the legacy of Amsterdam’s legendary club culture. In the 80s and 90s, venues like Roxy and it defined a generation. They were places where house music, art, fashion and activism collided. Where the night was extravagant, provocative and radically free. Where self-expression was not only allowed, but celebrated. ✨👠

That spirit lives on at Loveball — powered by Diva Mayday, the creative force behind the event and one of the shining stars of the night. As an icon of expression, performance and unapologetic glamour, Diva Mayday embodies the very essence of Loveball and brings its vision to life on and beyond the dancefloor. 💎👑💋

Expect an immersive musical journey driven by house music, featuring leading DJs and live performances by national and international artists. From deep, hypnotic grooves to uplifting, high-energy house sounds that will carry you through the night and into the early morning. 🔊🖤🌅

Line-up to be announced shortly. 👀✨

Surrounding this is a world of spectacular entertainment, bold performances and unexpected acts that stimulate the senses and complete the Loveball experience. 🔥💫

LoveBall gives back to the community:

At LoveBall, it’s not just about glitter, glamour, and dancing, we also celebrate the people who made it possible for us to live freely today. That’s why we support queer elders: the pioneers of the LGBTQ+ community who, in times of far less acceptance, fought for visibility, rights, and the freedom to be themselves.

Many elderly people, including queer elders, experience loneliness today. Some don’t feel safe being open about their identity in care homes due to fear of misunderstanding, even though they spent their lives fighting for love and equality. With LoveBall, we want to help change that through a financial contribution and by encouraging attention, connection, and joy, making special moments possible that enhance their wellbeing and quality of life.

Visitors will also have the opportunity on the night itself to donate voluntarily and directly support initiatives that uplift queer elders.

Together, we don’t just celebrate the present, we honor the past and help build a future in which no one is forgotten.

Loveball is more than a party. It is the beginning of Pride. 🏳️‍🌈

It is a tribute to our past — and a celebration of what’s to come. 💞🚀

Love is not just a feeling. 💗It’s a celebration. Welcome to Loveball. 🎉 ✨

    Trans podium

    Paradiso, Weteringschans 6-8, Amsterdam

    Queer kinky women munch

By Kwik @ Bar Buka, Albert Cuypstraat 124, Amsterdam

KWIK welcomes those who identify as womxn: trans women, cis women and also intersex and non binary folks who still feel connected to the womn scene. This does not include crossdressers, sissy men etc.

We don’t care if you’ve been doing BD$M for 20+ years or if you’ve only recently discovered your k!nky persuasions.

KWIK munch is an easy-going place to meet other k!nky womxn, get to know each other, exchange experiences and plan for more of the good stuff together.

We do care that we treat each other with mutual kindness and respect. Everybody is different, so no shaming, racism, sexism, transphobia etc. A no-brainer.
