    Bario Pop-Up PRIDE Café

Hal west, Hannie Dankbaarpassage 24, Amsterdam

Missed Us? Bar Bario returns to Hal West for Pride, fulfilling its mission to create an intentional, inclusive space. Our pop-up café offers a Queer haven of calm amidst the overwhelming Pride business, with its familiar warm energy, iconic drinks, and a rich selection of community events.

At its heart is a powerful intersectional exhibition highlighting the layered realities of Queer artists of color. Their work explores the tensions between multiple marginalized identities, inviting visitors to reflect on the complexity of self-definition. By immersing yourself in these stories, you may just break through the isolation that can exist within your own identity.

In a time when Pride often centers on mindless celebration, this exhibition offers depth. It reminds us that pride cannot be separated from struggle – and that embracing every part of yourself is essential for self-acceptance, collective strength, and growth.

Join us, take a break from the festive chaos, and become part of our community. Savor our iconic drinks, join Queer speed dating and other events, and immerse yourself in art that resonates. Keep an eye on our full program – there’s much more to come.

  8. Who the F*ck is Britt?!

    Paradiso, Weteringschans 6, Amsterdam

    Who the F*ck is Britt?!

    Paradiso, Weteringschans 6, Amsterdam

Windsurf Clinic: Meet, Greet and Surf!

By Pride & sports @ Amsterdam Windsurfing, Riekerweg 40, Amsterdam

    City of lost souls

    Kriterion, Roetersstraat 170, Amsterdam

    Rosa von Praunheim - 1983 - 94 Minutes - English & German Spoken - English Subtitles

    WO 29-07 | 19:00

    ZO 16-08 | 21:00

City of Lost Souls is a wild German musical that follows a group of eccentric cabaret performers as they move from America to Berlin to pursue careers in the arts. The raunchy ensemble - consisting of an occult sex therapist, a trapeze act duo, and artists of various sexual orientations and disorientations - struggles to find acceptance and creative freedom, all while working together in a greasy, fast-food joint called the Hamburger Queen. The main plot kicks off when the starstruck performer Lila gets pregnant by a mysterious communist who promises her fame and stardom in East Berlin. All hell breaks loose, and a wave of hilarious and politically satirical chaos ensues.

Von Praunheim's masterpiece has been described as a trans punk musical extravaganza brimming with outrageousness while remaining deeply human at its core. The film blends interviews, voice-overs, songs, and performance art, infusing the narrative with authentic autobiographical elements drawn from the lives of its performers and actors. Although the film received a modest reception upon its release, it has since developed a cult following and, in recent years, has been widely praised for its groundbreaking exploration of trans experiences and gender identity.

Boxing is from and for everyone!

That's why we are introducing our specially tailored FREE Queer Classes These classes are specifically for anyone under the queer umbrella. Our queer classes are specifically aimed at rookies but everyone is welcome.

Boxing gear available and bring your own if you have.

Queerboxing offers free boxing classes for anyone who wants to learn or try boxing in a safer, community-focused space. Our class is called Basic Bitch Boxing, in the most positive sense of the word. It’s about doing something we might not be good at yet but being brave enough to try anyway.

We embrace the idea that it’s okay to be a “basic bitch” sometimes. You don’t have to know everything or be strong or experienced. Trying, showing up, and showing up for yourself is what counts. No experience is needed, everyone can box. These lessons are especially suitable for people who are new to boxing, but if you’re more advanced, it’s a great way to get your basics back on track and practice your foundation.

Everyone deserves to feel safe. We aim to create a space where you can learn to box, build confidence, and hopefully feel a little safer in your body and in the world. It’s also a place to meet community, where friendships can grow.

If you have any injuries, limitations, or access needs, please let the trainer know in advance so we can adapt the exercises where possible.

During a shibari performance by Antartica & Qotton, you can try your hand at life drawing. Put your knowledge to the test in the ‘De Slimste Queer’ pub quiz, hosted by Tessel ten Zweege and Elmer.

Rather switch your brain off for a bit? Laugh along at Mezrab's Comedy Café, cheer on the many queer battles in our boxing ring, hosted by Hunkydory, or challenge other visitors to a few classic Dutch games. And of course, we'll wrap up the night on the dance floor with AK Soundsystem.

    Mykki Blanco

By Club Chrome @ Melkweg, Lijnbaansgracht 234A, Amsterdam

From art project to queer icon. Mykki Blanco began as an experiment centred on a teenage girl posting vlogs and raps on social media. Just over a decade later, the artist has become a household name and a figurehead within the queer community – a reflection of self-discovery and identity through art.

Mykki has pushed hip-hop to unprecedented, unbounded limits by blending noise and experimental elements with club and trap influences, while carving out a distinctly subversive path within a genre historically entangled with problematic ideologies such as misogyny, homophobia and transphobia. While Blanco is widely recognised as a leading force within the so-called ‘queer rap’ sub-genre, their recent work signals a strong artistic evolution that breaks through genre boundaries.

Every last Friday of the Month, TransAmsterdam organizes Open Mic Trans and Friends Café InClusion at Plein Theater, Sajetplein 39, Amsterdam. An evening where everyone gets the space to share their talents and express themselves. Do you want to tell a short story, perform a poem, sing a song, or share something completely different? It doesn’t have to be perfect — it’s all about TransJoy. Additionally, Sam will be there with free Henna Painting. Let your hands be beautifully decorated by their creative touch.

*During café InClusion, photos are taken, and films are made regularly. Anyone who does not wish to be filmed or photographed can request a sticker from our team members. This way, our filmmaker and photographer take your wishes into account.

    Plein Theater, Sajetplein 39, Amsterdam

A Dadaist Variety Show is a feeling directed and produced by Zena Wood, with original music composed by Wood and Waters. Paired together with bingo - the most illogical and logical bar pastime, you will witness on stage some of Amsterdam's resident comedians, magicians and musicians (say that three times fast). The main act will involve a washing machine and your bingo cards will be based on the variety acts. It's that simple. This is a show for groups of friends, solo theatergoers, and people tired of bureaucracy. So - everyone, really.

    Pride Outdoor Cinema

By Filmhuis Cavia @ Radio Radio, Pazzanistraat 3, Amsterdam

    Southern Sorceresses + Degenere

Filmhuis Cavia is a community-run cinema with more than forty years of existence. Part of that long history has been created together with LGBTQ+ communities who have gathered in our filmhuis to organise and watch different programs and festivals such as TranScreen, Roze Filmdagen, Porn Film Festival Amsterdam, Kissable Screens, and several stand-alone movies that center queer people.

For this occasion we join efforts with Radio Radio to celebrate Amsterdam as a WorldPride capital, bringing our summer outdoor cinema to Westerpark. We’ll screen a selection of films that are festive, while also inviting us to reflect on topics such as patriarchy, racism, coloniality and heteronormativity through the lens of queerness.

    Southern Sorceresses

Southern Sorceresses follows the drift of performances and improvisations by seven queer artists through the streets of downtown São Paulo in a cinematic experience that makes visible the persistence of archaic gender and race prejudices in the common imagination. At the heart of this polyphonic narrative is the importance of political resistance through alliances of common struggle between LGBTQIA+ collectives, black people, indigenous people, and homeless workers.

    Degenere

Dorothy's dream was to perform on stage in a skirt and be recognized as the woman she was, but she died before fulfilling it. Her best friend Misael, a 60 year old gay man, will make it happen. In Chocó, the Colombian state with the largest afro-descendant population and the highest poverty rates, Misael creates the first queer folk dance group together with four trans women and four gay men, questioning their traditions that are defended by cultural values in order to erase their queerness.

DJ Bone presents FURTHER x HE.SHE.THEY. World Pride

    Paradiso, Weteringschans 6, Amsterdam

    Pride is a riot

By Sexyland @ Het Homomonument, Westermarkt, Amsterdam

On the peak day of World Pride, SEXYLAND is stepping it up a notch at the Homomonument. Or rather: a whole mouthful of razor-sharp teeth!
Pride is a protest? Yeah, duh.

But is that message still getting through loud and clear? No. That’s why PRIDE IS A RIOT!

On Saturday 1 August, around two hundred speakers, live performers, artists and DJs will climb the barricades to really shake things up. The whole spectrum of colours will be represented, whilst at the same time we’ll be focusing on the people who need it most: transgender, intersex, non-binary, and yes: cisgender straight allies. Because without the full support of the majority of that last group, the queer community will never move forward.

FPQXL 20 Jaar - Greatest hits

    Paradiso, Weteringschans 6, Amsterdam

Kokomo City + Mr. Dimitris and Mrs. Dimitroula

    Kokomo city

In the wildly entertaining and refreshingly unfiltered documentary Kokomo City, filmmaker D. Smith passes the mic to four Black transgender sex workers in Atlanta and New York City – Daniella Carter, Koko Da Doll, Liyah Mitchell, and Dominique Silver – who unapologetically break down the walls of their profession. Holding nothing back, the film vibrates with energy, sex, challenge, and hard-earned wisdom.

    Mr. Dimitris and Mrs. Dimitroula

Dimitris lives her life in Skala Skamnias, the conservative Greek fishing village where she was born. She nursed her dying parents and now lives alone, able, at last to enjoy her femininity by dancing in the street to old pop records, watched by her cat. Misunderstood by family but celebrated by journalists covering the refugee crisis, her resilience is captured by the camera. She recalls time spent away from Lesvos and conscription into the Greek army. Gently observed and interviewed by a Lesbian film maker similarly aware of what it means to grow up different in a tiny traditional community, their shared humanity and mutual respect shine through this touching biographical film.

Relating in the Dark for GBTQ men: World Pride edition

    de Ruimte, Weesperzijde 79A, Amsterdam

"This was absolutely my favorite workshop ever. I can't wait for the next one. Removing the clutter and distraction and judgment from my eyes supported me to drop in immediately to my own other senses and hearing and connection with the other. It was incredible."

    ~ Daniel

What do you notice when you stop looking?

In the dark, a new doorway opens. Come discover what's there.

After a wonderful series of events in Berlin, Edinburgh, Portland, San Francisco & LA, Relating in the Dark is coming to Amsterdam this August as part of World Pride, a special edition for gay/bi/queer/trans identifying men. 🌈

Grab a blindfold and dive deep into the enriching practices of Authentic Relating, Conscious Touch and Movement Meditation. ❤

By exploring intimacy without sight, we will delve into our intuitive nature, sharpening our capacity for deeper connection. We will use blindfolds to invite you into profound contact with your physical sensations and internal reality, creating permission to be fully, softly, powerfully yourself. 😎

    WHO is this event for?

This event welcomes all gay, bi, queer and trans men aged 18+.

This event is for any man who is seeking deeper connection, stronger community, consensual loving touch, or simply a safe space to just be yourself.

This event is also for you if you’ve been recently feeling blocked, anxious, lacking purpose or direction, and need to reground and remind yourself what's truly important and who you truly are.

My experience includes working with Highly Sensitive People (HSPs); neurodiverse people; people suffering from anxiety and depression; people going through major life shifts; and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

If you have any questions about whether the event would suit you, pop me a message and I’ll get back to you within 24 hours.

    WHAT will we explore?

The first 2.5 hours of the evening will be a facilitated journey, exploring movement, contact and relating, with and without vision and words, through Authentic Relating, Mindful Movement and Conscious Touch. The last 30 minutes will be an integrative open lounge space, as you let your eyes adjust to the visual world before leaving the container.

Authentic Relating is a pioneering communication practice that invites you to connect playfully and courageously, through radical honesty, active listening, and the permission to share what's truly alive in you. The practice draws you into presence, embodied awareness, and the rich space that emerges between people when masks come off.

Mindful Movement invites you into somatic flow, surrendering to what arises in and through your body as you move in connection with music, sometimes alone, sometimes with others. Follow impulse, release control, and let the body lead.

Conscious Touch is the practice of bringing deeper presence into physical contact with another person. Grounded in awareness of our own desires and boundaries, we explore touch as a genuine language, one that can soothe, heal and inspire delightful amounts of pleasure.

Please note: This workshop welcomes (mutually consensual) sensuality. Clothing may be removed but underwear kept on. There will be a boundary put on kissing and any sexual activity, but other forms of intimacy are welcome.

    Angela Robinson - 2004 - 91 Minutes - English Spoken - No Subtitles

    ZO 02-08 | 21:00

“They're calling you a hero, when really you’re a slut. A GAY SLUT!”

D.E.B.S. is a slick action-comedy that flips the spy genre on its head. A squad of elite teenage secret agents gets scouted straight out of college to defend the nation, led by top recruit Amy Bradshaw. But everything changes when she is sent to take down notorious supervillain Lucy Diamond... Instead of capturing her, Amy finds herself falling for the very criminal she’s supposed to stop.

Written and directed by Angela Robinson, D.E.B.S. is a campy ode to queer romance, loaded with espionage and early-2000s energy. It got a lukewarm reception when it came out in 2004, but the film has since built a devoted cult following and secured its spot in queer cinema history for putting a fresh spin on the action-rom-com formula.

Poly Stories | Neurodivergent Love (Pride Special)

Treehouse NDSM, T.T. Neveritaweg 55-57, Amsterdam

ENM Storytelling Evenings | Treehouse NDSM (Amsterdam North)

THEME OF THIS EVENING: NEURODIVERGENT LOVE

This evening is part of the Pride Art Route and in collab with the QueerTropolis exhibit at Treehouse. As celebrating diversity in love and relating, this evening we dive into the diversity of the minds.

Being able to think outside the box, perhaps because your brain works a bit differently to
begin with, can be an excellent match with ethical non-monogamy. In this world, everyone
can design their own frameworks for relating to others romantically and/or sexually - far
away from societal scripts of mononormativity and relationship milestones. Everyone has
their own set of needs, boundaries, expectations and wishes.

Neurodivergence covers a broad spectrum of ways in which the brain may work or develop
otherwise than is considered typica.. It’s a non-medical term emphasizing that every individual has their own way of processing and behaving. Whilst not everyone who is neurodivergent has a diagnosis, common examples seen within the ENM community are ADHD and autism.

One may lean toward the impulsive versus stability, speaking from deep feeling or from logical directness, acting on moods or planning ahead to know what to expect. One may thrive in some additional structure, and the other loves the spark of the spontaneous. What may be common challenges for neurodivergent people within a normative society, may be superpowers in the world of ENM.

If one partner wants a little room for impulsivity to explore and get excited about new people,
and the other needs advance notice of events to strategically divide social battery, it's worth knowing how you tick. When you take off your mask, you can connect as you are.

    THIS IS FOR YOU WHEN
This evening is for anyone: whether you’re just starting out or already experienced in non-monogamy/open relationships/polyamory.

    Auraeus Solito - 2005 - 100 Minutes - Filipino Spoken - English Subtitles

    WO 05-08 | 21:00

    ZO 23-08 | 19:15

The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros is a sweet coming-of-age film set in the buzzing streets and slums of Manila. Maxi is a kid on the edge of his teens who’s totally comfortable being himself, and his family has got his back, even though they are mixed up in petty crime on the side. When Victor, a good-hearted young cop, swoops in and saves him from getting jumped, Maxi ends up developing an innocent crush for him.

Things get complicated when Victor starts digging into what Maxi’s family is really up to. Suddenly Maxi is stuck trying to figure out where his loyalties lie; first crush or family. Director Aureaus Solito tells the story with a ton of heart and humor, digging into identity, right and wrong, and just how messy growing up can be when love and family duty don’t line up.

The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros premiered at the very first Cinemalaya Film Festival back in 2005, ended up being the Philippines’ pick for the Oscars, and has since become a real classic in queer film.

    Paradiso, Weteringschans 6, Amsterdam

    Teaches of Peaches

    Melkweg, Lijnbaansgracht 234A, Amsterdam

    “Fetish at Pride”

Visibility matters, especially at Pride. But who decides what is “appropriate”, and where are the limits?

In this open and accessible session, we explore fetish visibility and representation in LGBTQIA+ spaces today. Why do some people feel kink doesn’t belong at Pride? Where do these ideas come from, and how do we respond? Is there discrimination under the rainbow? And how do we navigate the line between what is easily visible and what is judged as “too much”?

We’ll have plenty of time for Q&A with a panel of community voices.

    Michael Seligman & Jennifer Tiexiera - 2020 - 101 Minutes - English Spoken - English Subtitles

P.S. Burn This Letter Please is a moving documentary that brings to light a forgotten piece of LGBTQ+ history, built around a cache of personal letters found in a storage unit nearly six decades after they were written. These letters give a glimpse into New York’s drag scene of the 1950s, a time when simply being yourself could mean facing intense violence or even being cast out of society.

The documentary brings together personal accounts and rare archival footage, showcasing a vibrant underground world that history came close to losing entirely. P.S. Burn This Letter Please honors the courage it once took, and, for so many, still takes, to live openly as ourselves.

    Kriterion, Roetersstraat 170, Amsterdam

    Gabriel Baur - 2002 - 102 Minutes - English Spoken - Dutch Subtitles

    WO 12-08 | 21:00

“Here I am, and you can’t avoid me.”

Venus Boyz is a documentary that dives into the world of female masculinity, tracing the lives of drag kings, transgender men, and gender-nonconforming people across New York and London. Starting out in New York’s lively drag king club scene, the film unpacks the countless ways masculinity gets performed and reshaped.

Through intimate interviews and impressive performances, director Gabriel Baur treats gender as both something people express and something they live. For some, masculinity is a one-night playful performance. For others, it’s a core piece of who they are. Venus Boyz delivers a unique look at gender and self-determination, while also amplifying voices from communities that have long pushed back against traditional notions of what masculinity means.

    P.S. Burn this Letter Please

    Kriterion, Roetersstraat 170, Amsterdam

♡︎ THIS SCREENING WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY OUR YEARLY QUEER SPEEDDATING EVENT. STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFORMATION. ♡︎

    Shorts Programme

This programme brings together various short films exploring queer lives across different generations and places.

Liebe, Eifersucht, Rache (Love, Jealousy and Revenge)

    Michael Brynntrup | Germany | 1992 | 7'

In this absurd experimental short, queer filmmaker Michael Brynntrup plays with the ties between language and desire. The short is framed as a language-learning film for non-German speakers, and takes place in a gay leather bar, where a phone call between a patron and a drag-dressed escort turns into a story about translation and miscommunication, all the while honoring queer performance.

Playback. Ensayo de una Despedida (Playback: An Essay of Farewell)

    Agustina Comedi | Argentina | 2019 | 14'

Using a stash of VHS tapes and the recollections of “La Delpi,” the last living member of a community of transgender women and drag queens in Córdoba, Agustina Comedi pieces together a history that is left out of the official records. Playback is set in Argentina during the late 1980s, showing how lipstick, playback shows, and homemade costumes doubled as acts of resistance against police brutality and social rejection.

    Straightboy Lessons

    Ray Rea | United States | 1999 | 10'

Beginning the transition from female to male, a transguy seeks counseling from a cisgender male pal. Come along for an illustrated lesson on the do's and don’ts of being a straight boy, in some ways a throwback to the late 1990s and in other ways, a timeless story of friendship and change.

    Damned If You Don't

    Su Friedrich | United States | 1987 | 42'

Su Friedrich’s Damned If You Don't blends fiction with archival footage to investigate the connections between religion, sexuality, and repression. Inspired by a classic convent-set melodrama, the film follows the building attraction between a young lesbian woman and an isolated nun. Straightboy LessonsRay Rea | United States | 1999 | 10'Beginning the transition from female to male, a transguy seeks counseling from a cisgender male pal. Nouchka van Brakel - 1979 - 103 Minuten - Nederlands Gesproken - Geen Ondertiteling

    ZO 30-08 | 19:15

Hello, Hola, Merhaba, Ni Hao and more greetings!

Are you a Queer KOC ( Kinkster of Colour ) and lately been thinking “Wow, I really wanna meet and connect with more kinksters of colour – wherever do I go?!” Do you yearn for a get together that has more of your flavour? May it be a little bit of Adobo, Ras El Hanout or a kick of Sichuan Pepper.

Well the BIPOC Queer / Trans* / Femme* Group Amsterdam+ created by @General_Malaise and hosted by @TranyeWest is organising a munch at Bar Buka where we can all come together to talk about different topics, simply relax, hang-out, blow off some steam and seek out support!

The Munch is from 18:00 till 21:00.
The Introduction and Topic are not mandatory, if you want to skip that you can arrive at 18:00 and just join the group.

18:00 till 18:15 - Walk in, get a drink and find the host to join our spot or tables.

18:15 till 19:00 - 19:15 - Introduction Round and talking about the topic at hand. The topics can go from easy breasy to talking about more systemic issues. Around 18:00 tot 18:10 we’ll slowly round of the topic and make space for the other people who are joining.

19:15 till 21:00 - Free time! Everybody is free to yap and connect with eachother. Either continue the topic, crack some jokes or zone out safely in the corner. It is all good.

21:00 Munch Over - The Munch ends but Bar Buka continues! If you don't want to leave you are more then welcome to hang out and vibe out.
